About Burritos
The budget-friendly Bullritos prices attract the hordes, too, although it isn’t the main draw. The commitment to offering customers real, down-to-earth, delicious–to-the-last-bite Tex-Mex fare is still at the heart of Bullritos’ success.
History
Russell Ybarra was inspired by the bull running festival in Pamplona when he conceptualized Bullritos, a chain of Tex-Mex restaurants. He opened the first Bullritos in 2008 in La Porte, Texas, a logical choice considering that the Lone Star State is known as the home of Tex-Mex cuisine. His vision: A restaurant that offers “the best dang burritos” made from fresh, quality ingredients.
What They’re Famous For
Bullritos is obviously known for its burritos, a Tex-Mex favorite with flavored rice, meats and vegetables in a wrap. Burritos are a great on-the-go food that offers the right balance between carbohydrates, protein, and fats.
The Bullritos burritos come in a bag, too. The bag is customizable so each customer can create his or her own burrito filled with freshly-grilled meat, fresh-from-the-farm vegetables, and creamy queso. This can also be swiped, or marked, with a red marker to customize the burrito.
Why Come Here
Bullritos is a great place to get burritos in a bag for a fast on-the-go meal as well as a lively place to hang out with your family and friends. The casual ambiance attracts the young and old alike who come in their casual clothes although we often see young professionals in their office attire. The average noise level allows for carrying on conversations with your fellow diners; but when you’re engrossed in enjoying your delicious Tex-Mex food, talking with your mouth full may be the last thing on your mind.
The crew members seem well-trained in ensuring that the customers get what they asked for in their burritos. This is a proof that the chain is serious in its goal to ensure all bags are accurately loaded and all orders are handled with love. There’s even double-checking of the bags so that there are no stray unwanted ingredients in your customized burrito.
According to the chain’s management, the team in each restaurants prepare the ingredients on a daily basis so these are always fresh when assembled into the customized burritos. The guacamole, especially is made fresh several times a day, as is the case for the pico de gallo, a great side dish that has become Bullritos’ trademark. The corn masa, too, isn’t your usual processed chips but are prepared in-house daily, as well as hand-cut and made with zero trans-fat oil.
The menu is as extensive as it is appealing to the senses. The burritos, for example, are offered in several options for the wrap itself – regular flour, whole wheat, spinach, and cayenne – so you don’t have to be stuck with one variety over and over again. Each one has its own taste and texture, such as the cayenne being spicier than the regular flour and whole wheat varieties.
And the filling for your customized burritos will blow your mind, not just by the sheer number of options but by the fact that you can pile on as many ingredients as you want! Even the thought of unlimited toppings get many customers into an excited state.
The filling choices include rice (traditional Spanish and cilantro-lime); beans (black beans, charro beans, and fat-free refried); cheese (cheddar, Jack, and chili con queso); meats (pulled pork, ground beef, and steak); and vegetables (sautéed peppers and onions, jalapeños, lettuce, roasted corn, tomatoes, onions, and cilantro). There are also sour cream, guacamole, red salsa and salsa, pico de gallo, and habanero-tomatillo.
If you want a no-tortilla style burrito, you can choose the bowl-style options. You will still have the opportunity to fill your bowl with your favorite burrito fillings but skip the tortilla and reduce your calorie intake. You can also add chips to your fillings and come up with your own version of nachos.
Burritos may be the stars of the menu but the tacos will give them a run for their money. The tacos come in several varieties, too, including soft flour, crispy corn, and soft corn, all of which are served with rice and beans on the side. These also come with unlimited toppings.
Other food on the menu include fajitas and quesadillas. Order from the drink’s menu, too, because you will find several treasures in it. The Bartaco margarita is popular, as is the Smoke on the Water and Tequila.
If you’re looking for a great place for lunch and dinner, and you’re hankering for reasonably-priced Tex-Mex food, then Bullritos is the best place to be. Bring your kids because it’s as kid-friendly as can be, thanks partly to its free Wi-Fi access, television sets for entertainment, and dog-friendly policies.
