About In-N-Out

The In-N-Out Burger chain of fast-food restaurants is among the better burger chains that’s taking its fair share of the market. In some cases, it even sets trends in its niche and, thus, it’s considered as among the leaders.

History

Harry Snyder and Esther Snyder founded In-N-Out Burger in Baldwin Park, California. Nowadays, it has several restaurants in California, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Utah, and Texas; it’s considered as a regional chain for now. The corporate headquarters are in Irvine, California while its distribution centers are in Baldwin Park and Lathrop, California as well as in Dallas, Texas; Draper, Utah; and Phoenix, Arizona.

Unlike most of its competitors, In-N-Out Burger neither franchises its operations nor offers stocks to the public in its effort to maintain high quality products and services. The chain is also known for its employee-centric and customer-friendly policies, which has garnered for it multiple awards from top industry organizations.

What They’re Famous For

In-N-Out’s reason for existence is offering better burgers to its customers and, in this regard, its menu is among the simplest in the fast-food sector. There are actually only three varieties of burgers, namely, hamburger, cheeseburger, and the Double-Double.

Why Eat Here

If you’re sick and tired, literally and figuratively, of cheap yet bland fast-food fare, especially hamburgers and cheeseburgers, then you will find the In-N-Out Burger fare as the better option. Yes, the prices are slightly more expensive than at your average fast-food joints but when you get your first bite – and the next and the next until only the wrapping’s left – you will say that it was worth the price, every cent of it.

The beef patties are grilled to medium well that preserves their fresh, meaty and tasty quality without the risk of foodborne diseases (e.g., salmonella); experts have warned against eating undercooked meat of any kind due to the health risks involved. These are then served on a toasted bun, a combo that ensures the juiciness of the patty doesn’t overwhelm the bread.

The standard In-N-Out burger is pretty simple, too, but in its simplicity lies its enduring appeal. With just a juicy tomato, a crisp lettuce, and a tangy sauce to complement the juicy burger and the toasted bun, there are no unnecessary and overdone elements that take away from the perfect harmony of these simple yet beautiful ingredients.

There’s another reason the In-N-Out beef patties are among the best in the industry instead of the second-rate patties we so often see in fast-food burgers. The In-N-Out chain actually produces its own meat and other ingredients in its company-owned facilities, as well as its emphasis on using only fresh meat that hasn’t been treated with antibiotics. Such emphasis means that In-N-Out maintains strict quality control over its products and it shows in its better burgers.

As previously mentioned, the In-N-Out chain only offers three varieties of burgers but what it lacks in quantity, it more than makes up for in quality! We recommend the Double-Double burger, which consists of two hamburgers and two slices of cheese, because it will truly satisfy your hunger for a better and larger burger. No, it isn’t just big in size because it’s also big on flavors, too.

But don’t be fooled by the simplicity of its standard menu! For people in the know, there’s a secret menu although it isn’t as secret as its name implies – it can actually be found on the company’s website. Basically, the secret menu consists of several variations on the standard In-N-Out hamburger and cheeseburger.

There’s the 3×3, a large cheeseburger with three patties and three cheese slices, as well as the 4×4 that obviously has four patties and four cheese slices. Admittedly, In-N-Out could do a better job at naming their products but hey! It isn’t always in the name – it’s in the delectable appearance and appeal to the palate.

The variations also include a grilled cheese sandwich, a combination of the veggies and melted cheese sans the meat in the burger, and the Protein Style, a wrap-style food with the same meat, veggie, and cheese ingredients as the burger but served in a wrap.

Arguably, the most popular variation is the Animal Style, a burger with the standard toppings as well as pickles, grilled onions, and with extra sauce.  The Flying Dutchman is a great choice for people who want a low-carb sandwich – it doesn’t have the bun, veggies, and spread, just the cheese slices sandwiched between the patties.  There are sides, too, such as the onions and French fries, as well as several beverages including iced tea, lemonade, coffee, milkshakes, and soda.
