About Olga’s Kitchen
The Olga’s Kitchen prices are budget-friendly in line with the family-friendly thrust of the chain. Bring your family and friends, even your work and business colleagues, to the nearest Olga’s Kitchen and treat them to hearty meals without busting your budget.
History
In 1970, Olga Loizon opened the first Olga’s Kitchen in Birmingham, Michigan; this has been closed for a while. In late 2015, the chain was purchased by TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants.
As of June 2016, the chain consisted of 26 restaurants – 25 in Michigan, its home state, and one in Illinois. The company headquarters are in Livonia, Michigan.
Despite the change in ownership, the Olga’s Kitchen chain still retains many of the characteristics that its founder established. This is because TEAM Schostak retained all of the classic food that made the chain famous in the first place, as well as brought back Olga Loizon into the team mainly to review their recipes and processes. The change in the menu is in the addition of new entrées with bold and bright flavors; these are made fresh daily and paired with Olga’s Bread.
What They’re Famous For
Olga’s Bread is touted as the Best Bread on the Planet and it may well be true in many ways. The bread’s flavor, texture and consistency makes it suitable for pairing with chicken, turkey, and ham as well as vegetables, spices and herbs.
The chain is also known for its Olga’s Snackers, fried bread with seasoning and served with creamy cheese spread. Be careful about eating it, however, if you have a nut allergy.
As previously mentioned, Olga Loizon is still a vital member of the Olga’s Kitchen family. She visits various store locations, aptly known as Olga Visits, and interacts with the customers. She has become the face of the chain of restaurants that she established more than 40 years ago and it’s something she’s proud of.
Why Eat Here
Olga’s Kitchen may be a chain but its restaurants have a warm and welcoming feel akin to being welcomed into the home of a beloved relative or friend. The crew members smile at the customers, get their orders quickly, and offer their help whenever possible – truly, a dining experience that makes customers come back again and again.
The interiors have a cozy and comfortable look with its strategically positioned lights, cheerful décor, and ample spaces between the tables. Even on peak hours, usually during lunch and dinner times, the restaurant doesn’t feel too crowded. Groups, mostly students and young professionals with a few families, are welcome to enjoy lunch and dinner here, too.
The Mediterranean-inspired dishes are obviously the main reason for coming to Olga’s Kitchen. For starters, the best choice may well be Olga’s Snackers, wedges of fried Olga’s bread that have been dusted with seasoning and served with delicious Swiss Almond Cheese Spread.
If this cheese spread isn’t up your alley, you can try the spinach and feta dip snackers, the cheesy marinara dip snackers, and the hummus dip snackers. The zucchini fries basket is a savory treat – crisp zucchini strips with Olga’s Kitchen signature sauce.
For the main meal, Olga’s Sandwiches are popular because these are not only delicious but are also generously sized; a half-sized Olga Sandwich can be shared by two people, if they’re willing to share such a scrumptious meal. The sandwiches are served a la carte so side dishes are an option.
The Original Olga is faithful to the founder’s original recipe. The seasoned beef and lamb are juicy, flavorful and moist so these are the perfect complement to the sweet flavors of the vine-ripened tomato and onion.
You and your group can also choose from several versions of Olga’s Perfect Pair Meal. With it, a half-sized Olga Sandwich can be paired with two sides, such as Peasant Soup and Olga’s Salad with an Original Olga Sandwich. The Peasant Soup is a comfort food with seasoned beef and lamb, vegetables, and thick broth made with tomatoes and herbs. The Olga’s Salad is a delicious dish with iceberg and romaine lettuce, kalamata olives, red onions, grape tomatoes and feta cheese with an herb dressing.
Other possible Perfect Pair Meal combos are Peasant Soup, Seasoned Curly Fries, and Steak and Cheese Olga Sandwich; Curly Fries, Caesar Salad, and Smoked Pork Olga; and Sesame Chicken Olga with Zucchini Fries and Italian Pasta Salad. The number of variations means that you will not grow bored with eating out on a regular basis at Olga’s Kitchen.
The kids’ menu features several classic favorites, such as PB&J and mac ‘n cheese, usually served with a choice of side like slices of apples, oranges, or carrots. The drinks menu include Pepsi beverages and coolers while the desserts include pumpkin spice bread pudding, Birmingham’s Best Brownie, and Cinnamon Sugar Snacker.
