The major differentiations in India’s cuisine is between North and South Indian Cuisine. Every region has its range of Indian dishes, which portray the major diversity of this country.
Punjabi Cuisine
Punjabi cuisine is well-known for its delicious taste. Milk products are crucial to the dishes and every meal has Lassi and buttermilk. Wheat is considered a staple among North Indian people and Aloo Paratha and Makki Roti both of which are widely consumed here have wheat as its main ingredient. Rajasthani Cuisine
Rajasthan is a state widely known for varied dishes. Milk, butter and gram flour are important part of Rajasthani cuisine. Lentils, corn, beans and millet are crucial to the diet of the people. Some of its most popular dishes are Dal Bati Churma, Mirchi Bada, Mawa Kachori and Kalakand.
Bengali Cuisine
Bengali food is comprised of unique spices and dishes often include fish, rice, and lentils. The most well-known Bengali dishes are Doi Maach and Aloo Posto. Bengali has the most oved desserts in the country like Rasmalai, Mishti Doi and Kacha Gola.
Tamilian Cuisine
Tamil Nadu is situated in the south part of India and the food here is quite delicious. Tamilian food is primarily vegetarian dishes like Dosa, As Idli, Vada, Uttappam, Takali Soru and Sambar. Rice is a staple and dishes are spicy and full of flavor.
Kerala Cuisine
Kerala is in the southern part of India. The staple here is rice and they also use a unique blend of spices to create distinct flavors along with ginger, chillies and black pepper. Andhra Pradesh Cuisine
Andhra Pradesh is well known for spicy food. Rice is again integral in the cuisine along with red chili, jaggery and ragi. The vegetarian dishes are quite popular around the world. Among its most sought after dishes are Gutti Vankaya Kura, Panasa Puttu Koora and Boorelu.
Telangana Cuisine
Telangana cuisine comprises various ingredients like red chilies, tamarind and sesame seeds. Bread and roti are widely eaten here. Among its well known dishes are Dakinadu, Sarva Pindi, Pachi Pulusu and Malidalu.
South Indian Cuisine is very different from that of North India. They use chillies and spices and each dish has rice. Idli, Dosa, Medu Vada, Appam, Rava Upma, Sambhar and Uttapam are among the most well known dishes.
India is a land of diversity and even within a state, various areas have their own food culture, which contradicts with other areas. Each cuisine has a unique flavor and is special in its own right.
