History

In 1985, the founder of Charley’s Philly Steaks enjoyed his first taste of genuine Philly cheesesteak. Charley knew from his first bite that he had a goldmine in his hands so he worked toward perfecting his own version. When he opened his first location, his unique cheesesteak became such a hit and it became the basis for his success in the business.

Today, the chain has more than 500 restaurants in the United States and abroad.

Many of the Charley’s Philly Steaks locations are in mall food courts. Don’t be turned off by it because no matter the location, the taste and texture of the cheesesteaks remain consistent. The main difference will likely be in the ambiance – a mall food court will obviously be different from a standalone restaurant.

Unlike many Philly cheesesteak chains, the chefs at Charley’s Philly Steaks cook the meat to order resulting in fresh and flavorful sandwiches. The menu is relatively limited but therein lies its appeal, too! Ordering food becomes easier and faster while satisfying your cravings for the best cheesesteaks in town.

The Philly Cheese Steak Sub is the obvious bestseller, thanks to the perfect combination of succulent sirloin steak topped with mushroom, onion, green pepper and white American cheese with salt and pepper to taste. The Cheese Steak Bomb Sub is also a favorite, especially as the juicy sirloin steak complements the pepperoni, onions, and white American cheese with Italian seasoning as the final touch.

If beef isn’t your thing or you want to add variety to your cheesesteak experience, then you will find the chicken subs as the best alternative.  The Chicken Philly Sub consists of white chicken meat, a healthier ingredient than beef, as well as onions, green pepper, mushroom, and provolone cheese. The Chicken California Sub also has the delicious white chicken meat but with ranch and provolone cheese.

Bring your kids with you on your visit since the Charley’s Philly Steaks menu has a kids’ meal, which has three chicken strips and fries. And speaking of fries, there are cheese fries and cheese and bacon fries to satisfy your hunger for the classic American fare.

While the sirloin steak and white chicken meat in the Philly cheesesteaks are satisfyingly delicious, these aren’t the only things that make the cheesesteaks stand out from the competition.
