About East Side Mario’s
Such is its success in the restaurant industry that it has consistently appeared as among Canada’s 50 Best Managed Private Companies since 2000.
History
East Side Mario’s as it is known today is the result of a merger of three collective brands, namely, East Side Mario’s, Casey’s, and Pat & Mario’s with each restaurant having its own distinctive reputation. In 1980, the first Casey’s restaurant opened, which was followed by a second location before it was developed for the national market by Yesac Creative Foods. In 1982, the first Pat & Mario’s location opened as a takeout pizza and pasta business. East Side Mario’s first location was in Miami, Florida. Yesac Creative Foods sold these brands to Prime Restaurants in August 1989 – and Prime Restaurants has been instrumental in the success of the restaurant chain ever since.
What They’re Famous For
People are most familiar with the budget-friendly East Side Mario’s prices and jingle with the catch phrase, “Hey, budda boom budda bing”. Of course, its own take on traditional Italian-American dishes have also gained attention among foodies, which contributed to its success today. Even its revamped look, which mixes the vibe of Old World Italy with the ambiance of contemporary Little Italy, has been getting brownie points, too.
