History of HuHot
HuHot, founded by the Vap family, initially was known as Mongo’s but the family later discovered that the name was already trademarked so they decided to change the name to HuHot, named after the ancient capital city of Inner Mongolia, known as Hohhot. The first branch opened in 1999 and now there are 54 locations in 16 different states, mostly along the Midwest. HuHot has become associated with create-your-own stir fry meals and by 2016 it is known as the most prominent restaurant in the country to offer this style of food service. The restaurant has also expanded by now offering create-your-own desserts, which is popular with families and kids.
What’s HuHot Famous For?
HuHot is most popular for their 7ft. grill which is placed at the very center of the restaurant. Customers will take a bowl and fill it with their choice of noodles, vegetables, meat and sauces before handing it over to the chefs at the grill. From there the chef will prepare and mix the selection, preparing the food in front of the whole restaurant. For several years HuHot has also begun offering create-your-own desserts, focusing on S’mores. Each table has their own hibachi in which the customers can use to grill their desert as they please.
