The Redlands Grill traces its roots back to the establishment of J. Alexander’s, an American casual dining restaurant that heavily features wood fire cuisine. It was established in 1971 as a venture of the Volunteer Capital Corporation by three businessmen, Jack C. Massey, John Neff, Jr., and Earl Beasley, Jr. The first location was in Nashville, Tennessee and has always planned to expand nationally.
Alexander’s has been acquired by the Fidelity National Financial in 2012, which is when the plans for the Redlands Grill spin-off started to bloom. Almost half of J. Alexander’s 33 locations will be turned into a Redlands Grill location.
Redlands Grill is a lot like J. Alexander’s in many ways, except it will be more feature driven vs. the static menu of its predecessor. They will have seasonal and regional menu specials to better emphasize their “farm to table” concept.
